Welcome to Sunrise Preschools in Surprise where we pride ourselves on being a high-quality early learning center. My name is Joanne “Jo” Scheller, and I am the School Director. I began my journey in childcare over 30 years ago as a toddler teacher. Since then, I have grown into the roles of Assistant Director, and most recently, School Director. In addition to my extensive experience, I hold Early Childhood Education (ECE) credits and have undergone extensive ECE training. I am also a wife and mother to three beautiful daughters. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and going on outdoor adventures with my family and friends. As both a parent and an educator, I have had the privilege of witnessing my children’s growth through their preschool years. Ensuring quality care, fostering individualized relationships, and creating a home-like environment for our children to learn and grow in is of the utmost importance to me. We believe in maintaining open and ongoing communication with parents. We provide regular updates via SPS Moments, including photos, details of your child’s day, and important announcements. We also offer parent-teacher conferences and are always available for in-person or phone conversations.
Our HighReach Learning Curriculum incorporates a variety of activities designed to support children’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development. From creative arts and crafts to outdoor play, music, and early literacy programs, each day is filled with engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage hands-on learning through play.
Yes! We provide free nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day, prepared following USDA and CACFP guidelines. Our menu caters to children’s dietary needs and preferences, ensuring they receive healthy and balanced meals while in our care.
Yes, Sunrise Preschool Surprise West Greenway is fully licensed and adheres to all state and local regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of every child in our care. Many of our locations also hold additional quality ratings and accreditations, highlighting our commitment to high standards in early childhood education.
We take allergies and dietary restrictions very seriously. We encourage parents to share any specific needs their child(ren) during enrollment, and we’ll make sure your their meals are prepared safely. Our center also follows a nut-free policy, and we’re careful to prevent cross-contamination in our kitchen.

Since we have done that we have been so happy. The staff is amazing they treat our kids like their own and i feel i can talk to them about anything involving my child. 5/5/2026Sunrise Preschool has been a breath of fresh air, we having been going here for about a year now, for my 5 year old 5 days a week and my 9 year old for Friday's. Alone having a place my daughter can go and not just feel like she is being left to do whatever, but learning and using her mind and skills has been so great. She has made some great friends while she is there, and as far as my son i know boys are a lot of work, but the staff handles what is thrown their way nicely. They are understanding, they listen to any parents concerns, and they take what you have to say seriouisly. I will forever recomend them to anyone i know that is needing child care, because we all know having to leave your child in someone elses hands can be hard.

4/28/2026I started my girls here in January of this year. First time for both of them to go to a daycare/preschool. I was very nervous but the school and teachers have made it very easy and such a smooth transition for all of us. There is communication throughout the day on what my daughter is doing or if I just need to send a simple message to the director or teachers it’s very simple and easy through their app. We get picture updates as well that I absolutely appreciate! Food and snacks are always provided as well as water if we forget to send her without a sippy cup, they always make sure there is extras. We just bring her diapers wipes and blankets. Because my oldest goes to school, they even provide transportation to and from school since there is no before and afterschool care for her. I absolutely love that! It helps out a lot when my hours for work don’t match the school hours like most families. Jo and Holly have been so caring and patient with me and all my questions. This is my first go around and they are more than understandable. Both my girls absolutely love it there. I see how comfortable they are given the fact they both have NEVER been in any childcare setting before. I appreciate the teachers as well. I understand that they ALL are doing the best they can. So thank you to each and every one of you for the hard work and dedication. My girls love you all and that automatically makes me love you all! We hope to continue to grow with Sunrise Preschool! 🫶🏻

4/28/2026My daughter has been coming here for about a year and a half most of the teachers have been really nice and I really caring for My daughter, especially Khloe, Brenna, Asia, and Julia! They Are always excited to see my girl and keep me posted on how she’s doing. We have had a few hiccups With a few kids in the class, but all of my concerns have always been addressed by management and they really take my concerns into consideration. Before coming here, I took her to a different daycare and just got the vibes that they were not great, but Sunrise helped all of my fears go away once we switched over💕

11/21/2025I couldn’t be happier with our experience so far. We’ve been going to sunrise preschool for about four months now, and both of my boys are thriving. I was nervous at first since this was their very first daycare experience after being home with me since they were babies. But Miss Jo, Holly, and their team have been fantastic. Every time I’m in the building, the staff are happy and upbeat—even on the busiest days, they truly go above and beyond. They also did a wonderful job supporting both of my boys as they transitioned into their next age-appropriate classrooms after their birthdays. The move was seamless, and they are thriving in their new rooms. Since my boys have started, I have witnessed tremendous growth in them, and we are incredibly grateful for Sunrise in Surprise, AZ. The teachers keep us updated, share daily posts and photos that highlight what our kids are doing throughout the day which sets my momma heart at ease.

11/21/2025We’ve had such a great experience with Sunrise. After trying other places in the past, this is the first one where my three-year-old actually asks to go every day. The teachers are all friendly, many of them are moms and you can tell they care about every child not just the ones in their own classroom. They’ve helped us with potty training and learning all the preschool things. It gives me so much confidence for our little guy to start kindergarten in the next couple years. The rooms are always spacious, clean, and set up for fun. This is a safe and happy environment for kids to spend their day. We’re really grateful to have found Sunrise.

10/5/2025Absolutely love sunrise preschool. Its the the first preschool for my son and I was nervous putting him in one. JO the director made us feel so comfortable from the start and has been so comforting and friendly the whole time. We have been there about a year now and my son still says he loves school. The whole staff is amazing and friendly. It makes me happy that he loves going there so I know he is comfortable and feels safe while hes there. Highly recommend this location and school.

Miss Jo and her staff are wonderful and my daughter loves being at school with her friends and teachers. Whenever I am in the building, the staff seem happy and overall relaxed, which is impressive for a high stress environment! That tells me they work well as a team. My daughter’s speech, gross, and fine motor skills have developed a great deal since she started. When I say ‘are you ready for school?’ She runs to wait by the door, eager and excited to go! I wish I could have chosen both the teachers who show love and encouragement to my so n and the management ( Director and Assistant Director) who are consistent, caring and communicative. Jo and Holly help me make my child better. They want him to succeed and be happy. I feel it in every interaction both with my son has done something of concern and when he’s being good.
